Charles Adongo, a pork vendor operating in Kaneshie, Accra, and hailing from the Balungu Community in the Bongo District of the Upper East Region, has generously donated 15 mattresses and pillows to the Bongo District Hospital as part of his efforts to alleviate the shortage and deterioration of essential hospital equipment.
The donation was inspired by Mr. Adongo’s visit to the hospital in June, where he noticed patients lying on worn-out mattresses during a visit to his nephew. Determined to make a difference, Mr. Adongo pledged his support to enhance patient care at the hospital.
Presenting the donation on behalf of his brother, Mr. Harrison Adongo emphasized the importance of improving conditions in the male ward, underscoring the significance of the contribution in providing comfort and support to patients.
Ms. Estella Abazesi, the Bongo District Director of the Ghana Health Service, expressed gratitude for Mr. Adongo’s thoughtful gesture and assured that the donated items would be allocated to the male ward as requested. She also encouraged continued community support for the hospital and advocated for Bongo District’s inclusion in the Government’s flagship Agenda 111 program aimed at enhancing healthcare infrastructure nationwide.
Ms. Abazesi highlighted the district’s growing population and emphasized the need for a modern, well-equipped district hospital to effectively cater to the healthcare needs of the community. She reiterated the importance of collaborative efforts in advancing healthcare delivery in the region.
